The Wild Moon Company: a Wix shop reborn as a 97 A+ green-hosted brand home
Stephanie Stevens runs a holistic crystal business — ethically sourced crystals, handmade jewellery, candles, Wiccan pieces and Reiki healing. We rebuilt her from a US-hosted Wix site into a hand-built, UK green-hosted static site she can edit herself: 97/100 A+ on our PEER audit, built to WCAG 2.2 AA, with its real carbon footprint measured live on every page.

The Challenge
The Wild Moon Company is Stephanie Stevens' holistic crystal business — ethically sourced crystals and gemstones, handcrafted jewellery, Wiccan pieces, candles, aromatherapy, and Reiki & crystal healing at HERA Wellness in Northamptonshire. The brand had grown across markets, events and a monthly subscription, but its home online was a Wix site that didn't match the care of the work.
The old Wix build was hosted in the US on a non-green grid, leaned on a page-builder runtime, and gave Stephanie little real control over her own content. For a brand rooted in intention, slow living and the natural world, a heavy, generic template was the wrong first impression.
The brief: a beautiful, distinctly her brand home — fast, accessible, UK green-hosted, easy for her to update, and quietly walking the sustainability talk with a measured carbon footprint rather than a green claim.
What We Built
A hand-built static site with its own typographic identity, a content editor Stephanie controls, a journal migrated from the old Wix, an events map, and live per-page carbon measurement in the footer.
Hand-built static site
Astro with Markdoc content, no page-builder and no runtime framework. The homepage ships around 0.6 MB with zero blocking JavaScript — a fraction of a typical Wix page.
Live per-page carbon
An EcoPigs badge in the footer reports each page's real emissions against the live UK grid — not a flat estimate. The footprint is measured and shown in the open, not asserted.
A journal, migrated & kept
Stephanie's existing journal posts were carried over from the old Wix — founder story, crystal care, gift guides and seasonal rituals — with images optimised and structured data added for search and AI.
Events with live maps
A markets-and-gatherings page with each venue shown on a map, booking links, "spaces available" ribbons, and a stall preview — so people can find Stephanie in person and book before they arrive.
A typographic identity
Self-hosted Josefin Sans paired with the Eyesome script for the "wild moon" hand, on a cream-and-plum celestial palette — no third-party font requests, and a look that's unmistakably hers.
Editable, with a working contact
A Keystatic CMS lets Stephanie edit pages, posts and events herself, and the contact form runs through our own privacy-first relay — enquiries land straight in her inbox, with spam quietly filtered out.

Technical Highlights
Astro + Markdoc build — static HTML with clean URLs and per-page canonical tags. No runtime framework and no hydration cost; the homepage carries zero render-blocking JavaScript.
Keystatic CMS — the owner edits pages, journal posts and events herself through a friendly editor, with content stored as markdown in the repo.
Live carbon measurement — an EcoPigs Digital Carbon v2.0 badge reports per-page emissions against the live UK grid, right in the footer.
Self-hosted fonts — Josefin Sans and the Eyesome script served as subset WOFF2 from the same origin. No Google Fonts, no third-party font requests.
Privacy-first contact relay — the contact form posts to our own self-hosted endpoint that emails enquiries via Resend, with honeypot spam filtering and no third-party form service.
Green hosted + verified — Hostinger VPS in Manchester, UK; Green Web Foundation verified, with Schema.org Organization, WebSite and BlogPosting structured data on every relevant page.
