Digital Scope 3 Assessment
Plan breakdown & deliverables
This document outlines exactly what is included in each plan, what data is measured, the methodology behind the numbers, and what you receive as a deliverable. All plans produce output formatted for direct use in carbon accounting tools and CSRD / ESG disclosures.
Emissions are calculated using peer-reviewed methodology from Cloud Carbon Footprint (Thoughtworks), the GHG Protocol, and published emission factors from the IEA, Greenly, and Berners-Lee (2020). Every figure carries a confidence rating so your auditors know exactly what they’re working with.

What We Measure
Website
- Page weight and asset breakdown (HTML, CSS, JS, images, fonts, video)
- Real browser energy consumption via EcoPigs — direct measurement, not estimation
- Monthly and annual CO2e extrapolated from page views and visitor data
- Hosting provider carbon intensity (grid region and renewable energy status)
- Comparison against industry benchmarks
What Data We Need From You
- Your website URL
- Approximate monthly page views (Google Analytics or rough estimate)
- Hosting provider name and server region if known
If you don’t know your hosting details, we can determine the region from the IP. Monthly page views can be approximated — we’ll note the confidence level accordingly.
Methodology
- EcoPigs v2.0 — direct CPU measurement via Chrome DevTools Protocol
- Device power profiles applied to convert energy to CO2e
- Grid carbon intensity from Electricity Maps / IEA by region
- Hosting renewable energy status cross-referenced against The Green Web Foundation
This methodology measures actual browser energy consumption rather than using bytes as a proxy — a more accurate and defensible approach than most tools on the market.
What You Receive
- Full written report (PDF + editable DOCX)
- Website emissions figure in kgCO2e per month and tCO2e per year
- Confidence rating: High / Medium / Estimated with explanation
- Methodology statement suitable for inclusion in CSRD or B Corp disclosure
- One prioritised recommendation for reducing website emissions
- Data formatted for direct entry into standard carbon accounting tools
Delivery
- 3 working days from receipt of intake form
- No walkthrough call included — report is self-explanatory
- Email support for any questions within 5 working days of delivery
Plan 2
Digital Professional — £595 + VAT
What We Measure
Website
Everything in Digital Essentials
- Total mailbox storage across the organisation
- Emails sent and received per day
- Attachment volume and average attachment size
- Active vs passive storage distinction — energy cost of stored mail vs mail in transit
- Provider carbon intensity (Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace data centre regions)
What Data We Need From You
Website
URL and monthly page views (as per Essentials)
Email — Microsoft 365
- Reports > Usage > Email Activity export (sent/received counts)
- Reports > Usage > Mailbox Usage export (storage per mailbox)
Both available in Microsoft 365 Admin Centre in under 5 minutes. Read-only report access is sufficient — no elevated permissions needed.
Email — Google Workspace
- Admin Console > Reports > Email Log Summary
- Total storage used across users
Methodology
Email at Rest (Storage)
- Greenly emission factor: 0.0078 kWh per GB per month
- Derived from Dell PowerEdge R730 server LCA, cloud provider PUE declarations, NRDC storage utilisation rates
- Grid carbon intensity applied by data centre region
Email in Transit (Send/Receive)
- Berners-Lee (2020) emission factors: standard email 0.3g CO2e, with attachment 17g CO2e
- Adjusted for 2024 grid mix
- Active vs passive split applied — received-but-unread mail weighted differently to sent mail with attachments
Provider PUE
- Microsoft: published PUE of 1.18 (EU data centres)
- Google: published PUE of 1.10
- Applied as multiplier across all email calculations
What You Receive
- Full written report covering both website and email (PDF + DOCX)
- Per-source emissions breakdown: website vs email vs email attachments
- Confidence rating per line item with methodology notes
- Executive summary (one page, board-ready)
- Methodology documentation suitable for CSRD, B Corp, or auditor review
- Reduction recommendations across both areas with estimated CO2e savings
- Data formatted for direct entry into carbon accounting tools
- 30-minute walkthrough call to review findings
Delivery
- 5 working days from receipt of intake data
- 30-minute walkthrough call scheduled on delivery
